A sous chef is a culinary artist, second in command in a kitchen’s hierarchy, working closely under the head chef’s guidance. This role is pivotal in any bustling kitchen, as the sous chef not only assists in crafting exquisite dishes but also takes charge in the head chef’s absence. With a blend of leadership skills and culinary expertise, a sous chef ensures that every plate is a testament to the restaurant’s commitment to gastronomy, and every service runs smoothly, reflecting the orchestrated effort of the kitchen brigade. You:
You are partly responsible for managing the kitchen staff, cleaning the working environment and kitchen equipment and identifying defects
You are service-oriented and have an enthusiastic appearance and you get along well with different types of people
Preferably previous (river) cruise experience in a same role
The happiness of our guests and crew is your main priority
Strong communication skills: Must be diligent in communicating thoughts and ideas and keeping the executive chef and onboard management well-informed of any and all issues regarding the kitchen and its staff
You have knowledge of the HACCP guidelines
You are open minded and flexible and have a hands-on mentality
You are resistant to stress and resilient
Excellent English skills (written & verbal), German knowledge is a big advantage
Sijfa Travel:
