Executive Chef

Executive chef

As Executive Chef you are part of the onboard management and you will execute and oversee food preparation and kitchen service for the restaurant and bar. You will be responsible for the management of the kitchen and dishwashing crew, controlling the food cost and ensuring an high quality food product. You will coordinate daily with hotel manager and other department heads and analyze guest feedback to improve the product.

You work according to instructions regarding ingredients, recipes, working methods and external presentation of the dishes. You work closely with the onboard Maître ‘d for a smooth organization.

As executive chef you will report to the corporate executive chef and onboard to the hotel manager.

You:

You are responsible for managing the kitchen staff, controlling the work hours, training and coaching the team and creating a fun work environment where the team members can excel and grow

Organization Skills: able to deal with paperwork from suppliers, inventory receipt, audits and control developing. Making correct orders, while maintaining the company set food cost

Preferably previous (river) cruise experience in a same role

Strong communication skills: Must be diligent in communicating thoughts and ideas and keeping the corporate chef and onboard management well-informed of any and all issues regarding the kitchen and its staff

The well-being of the crew on the ship is important to you

You are open minded and flexible and have a hands-on mentality

Lead, mentor, and manage culinary team, ensuring that all team members are trained and meet company standards. Oversee training of new Team Members to help them achieve higher status

You are resistant to stress and resilient

Excellent English skills (written & verbal), German knowledge is a big advantage
