2nd Captain
As 2nd Captain you assist the Captain with his/her responsiblilty for the entire ship: navigating and manoeuvring, managing and supervising all nautical-technical matters. In addition, you are responsible for the safety of the ship according to current legal regulations, passengers and crew.
The role of the Second Captain is a vital one, serving as the linchpin between the crew and the First Captain. Tasked with the crucial responsibilities of navigation, maneuvering, and overseeing safety protocols, You ensure the smooth operation of the ship’s journey. Beyond these duties you are also entrusted with the upkeep of the vessel’s deck, maintaining its cleanliness and order. This position is not just a job but a stepping stone for those who aspire to rise to the rank of First Captain. It demands dedication, a keen willingness to learn, and a commitment to excellence. You:
You have affinity with the tourism sector
You are service-oriented and have an enthusiastic appearance and you get along well with different types of people
A good command of the Dutch, English and German language (more languages is an advantage)
Experience in the river cruise industry
Well-groomed and representative appearance
You take responsibility for the effective and safe operation of the vessel and its equipment, ensuring adherence to regulations
Accurate and stress-resistant
you oversee all vessel operations, including navigation, maintenance, and regulatory compliance
Knowledge of the Microsoft Office package, especially Excel
